No Effing Way - A-Basin to Open Today

Check this:

It's supposed to be 75 degrees today in Boulder, but don't be fooled — ski season officially begins at 9 this morning.

Summit County's Arapahoe Basin is set to open its Exhibition chairlift today, making it the first operational ski area in the nation for the second year in a row. This also marks the earliest A-Basin has opened in its 61 years of operation.

Skiers can expect 18 inches of snow on the intermediate High Noon run, and some parts of the High Divide terrain park also will be open, resort officials announced Tuesday.

Welcome my friends to 2007-08. It is now officially ski season. Before my birthday. Happy Birthday to me on the 11th.

Damn, that's crazy! Does look like there is a lot of snow up high these days though!

I found out today I couldn't get my skis tuned because the "tuning machine" (anyone think to tune by hand - too ol' school maybe) would damage the skis further. They are an old pair of Volkl G3's. The core is just a little messed up. Just a half inch + long split. Skiable...possibly only once. I took the skis and will be skiing on them on Saturday. Probably at first lift if I can get up early enough. I too can't believe A-Basin is open so early. I too can't believe I am going to A-Basin so early like a gaper...but let's get real for a moment...I'm from the East Coast and we have never been able to ski in October. So...I'm going because I can! I'll let you know how it was.
