Ron Paul Troll-bots

There are "troll bots" that run around posting comments on blogs about how great Ron Paul is. In case you don't know, he is a Republican (Libertarian) Presidential Candidate.

Note, that this is simply an experiment to see how long it takes before the trollbots show up at my site and start posting comments.

I believe that they simply patrol technorati and so forth and look for XML feeds about Ron Paul, then rush over to post at those sites and say how great he is to try to generate buzz. And as quickly as they showed up on your blog, they are gone again.

So I am posting this in a separate entry from the "Ron Paul Sucks" entry just to see how many of them jump on the link to try to troll my site.

It is summer and I am bored. Troll away boys. Plus it helps my site stats with more visits.

I seriously believe this man is the last hope we Americans have to remain free. Everyone must get out on election day and vote for this man. Don't let the big name candidates distract you. If you value your freedon, which is in serious jeopardy, put this man in the white house.

What have you done about the Ron Paul campaign today?

The North American Union approaches fast (2011).

You need a brain. Why do you think that most in the world hate the US? Our own cia are the ones "brutally torturing" people for no reason. And killing innocents? We've killed close to 1,000,000 innocent Iraqi civilians. WAKE UP! Turn off your damn tv and do your own research

Everyone please register as a Republican (just a stupid label), it takes just 2 minutes on their site gop . com and vote in the primaries. We gotta get this guy on the ticket.

All these comments from the same IP, BTW.

Yes, you must be bored. "Troll bot"?? Is that the best you can do? I've been called worse things by better people than you.

People who resort to name calling do so because they don't poses the intellegence to debate logically.

This pathetic article demonstrates the frustration being felt by the less intellegent people of this country. They can not find anyone worthy of thier support, so the attack what they do not understand.

Justin, don't get depressed by my words, there is, afterall, a place for small minded yet ambitious individuals like yourself. FOX News. I hear Bill'O is doing just fine calling people names. Sounds like you could do real good there.

BTW, Ron don't suck, Anderson Cooper sucks.

Is it your IP?

srry...someone just told me to google ron paul sucks and I did....and so far this page hasn't convinced me that's true

oh btw please say I'm from the same IP as the other posters- that I'm just a spambot, I'm sure you'll convince people....all the people that seem to be no one...

Now again, this page is not even on the front page of my blog. You came here via google trying to post comments on sites that said Ron Paul sucks.

Do you know what a "bot" is? Normally, they are automated to make multiple posts of useless and often off topic information. The first four comments were from the same IP and not even topical. These were generated by an automated bot similar to the ones that run around posting about viagra prescriptions and Canadian pharmacies as well as penis enlargement and 18 year old Asian girls doing whatever you want them too.

Perhaps the latest two are actual humans trolling google for mentions of Ron Paul, but the first four are not.

And again, that was the entire purpose of the post is to prove my theory about the fact that there are both automated and live trolls out there searching the web to do PR work for Ron Paul. This is multiplication of effort for his campaign staff to try to generate Blogosphere buzz. It is part of a savvy marketing campaign to sell their candidate using technology to try to build a grassroots presence via the Internet, similar to the groundswell that Howard Dean used to become a viable candidate in 2004. Hello. This is slick marketing and my entire point was to show it and see how much traffic it generated. This has very little to do with what I think of Ron Paul.

BTW, I think he is a douche, but that is just FYI and not really related to this post.

excuse me sir, you havent said whats wrong with ron paul yet.

Posted by: Graham at August 21, 2007 05:40 PM

I don't think that there was ever a bot, though the first few posts probably came from the same person laughing uncontrollably. If it was a bot they would have found you sooner, and they wouldn't have known to name themselves "spambot" to make light of your topic. So in fact they were on topic but you seem not to have picked up on it. I guess this one goes to the Ron Paul crowd, but then I guess anyone who is a living Ron Paul supporter is just a troll right? Well if it means that I can speak about hope for minimal government. About an end to this apathy that allows us to completely rely on the state to run our lives and tell us how much more money we should give them, thus how much more power over our economic destiny we should hand over to people who can't even balance a budget! If speaking out for my right to take more of my destiny into my own hands makes me a troll then great! Ron Paul speaks for our country as it was founded, not as it's been guided by a few elitists that would tell us they know how our very lives could be better if only we let them run everything, 100% taxes FTW!!.

Ron Paul 2008!!

so I found this blog through a link on digg.. as of the last time I checked I am not made of any mechanical parts nor do scripts to automate any part of me, even though that would be pretty cool, if it were true. I did have to use a proxy to get to this blog, because apparently my company network found it fitting to block your site /shrug.

So other than the someone evident fact that you dislike ron paul because of what you percieve as over-zealous supporters; I have yet to see you list a single reason that you dislike him. Nor did I see you take any point with his voting record or things found in speaches. I did click on your 'ron paul sucks' article, which then relinks back to this one.. kinda circular and still leaves me yearning to find out what you have against him.

Maybe you care to respond? or are you going to just link back to another article that links back to this one all the while, not contributing anything new.

I know I'm real and I support the Ron Paul Revolution buddy!

Posted by: Adrian at August 26, 2007 10:35 PM

"I seriously believe this man is the last hope we Americans have to remain free" - you mean if you're a young, middle-class white male right? The poor will have the 'freedom' to remain so under Paul's reign, and women, well, who cares about their freedom to choose? F* you, Ron Paul supporters, go f*ing get a clue. [edited]

I love this whole "Ron Paul Revolution." I find it to be funny because Ron Paul is so full of crap. I would never register as a Republican, especially for this jackass. His platform ain't all that great, support the constitution only, oh yeah, big whoop. This guy is nothing more than some right-wing nut job.

I personally hope Giuliani wins the Republican nomination. That way in 2008, I can be assured an easy Democratic victory.
